Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 3, 2026

ViewFolk (“we,” “us”) operates viewfolk.com, a tool for discovering YouTube creators and, for creators who claim their page, connecting with potential collaborators. This policy explains what data we collect, what we do and don't do with it, and how to reach us. We've deliberately designed ViewFolk to collect as little personal data as possible.

1. What we collect when you sign in

You can browse ViewFolk without signing in. You only sign in (with Google) if you want to claim a creator page you own or use collaboration features.

When you sign in with Google, we store only:

  • Your opaque Google account identifier (the “sub” — a random-looking string Google assigns; it is not your email or name), and
  • A verification timestamp recording when you claimed a page.

We do not store your email address, your name, or your profile photo. Google may show these to you during the sign-in consent screen, but our application strips them out and never saves them. We request only the basic, non-sensitive Google sign-in scopes (“openid email profile”) needed to authenticate you.

2. What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data — ever, to anyone.
  • We don't share your data with third parties except the infrastructure providers that are operationally necessary to run the site (listed in section 5).
  • We don't build advertising profiles about you or track you across other websites.
  • We don't store your email or name, so we have no way to email you and no personal contact details on file.

3. Analytics

We use PostHog for basic, privacy-conscious product analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage such as which pages are viewed and which features are used. This helps us understand what's useful and improve the product. We do not use it to identify you personally, and automated/test traffic is excluded.

4. Public YouTube data

ViewFolk's discovery and matching features are built from public YouTube channel data — for example channel names, descriptions, subscriber counts, and thumbnails — sourced from YouTube's public Data API. This is publicly available creator information, not your personal data. ViewFolk is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

5. Service providers

We rely on a small number of third-party services strictly to operate the site:

  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
  • Upstash (Redis) — storage of claim records and collaboration requests.
  • Google — sign-in / authentication (OAuth), and the public YouTube Data API.
  • PostHog — anonymous product analytics (section 3).

Each processes data only as needed to provide its service, under its own terms and privacy practices.

6. Collaboration requests

If you claim a page and send another claimed creator a collaboration request, we store that request — the message you wrote, the sending and recipient pages, and a timestamp — so the recipient can read it inside ViewFolk. This is an in-app inbox: we do not email anyone.

We do not expose the recipient's identity (or email — which we don't have) to the sender. The only information a recipient sees about a sender is the public creator page the sender chose to send from and the message they wrote. Please only include in a message what you're comfortable sharing with the other creator.

7. Cookies

When you sign in, we use a session cookie to keep you signed in. It's essential to the sign-in feature and holds only your session, not personal profile data. PostHog may set analytics storage as described above. We don't use advertising cookies for cross-site tracking.

8. Your rights and choices

  • Browse without an account — signing in is optional.
  • Release a claimed page — you can unclaim any page you own from that page, which deletes its claim record.
  • Request deletion — because we only hold your opaque Google id and any collaboration requests tied to it, you can ask us to delete this data. Contact us (section 9) and we'll remove it.

9. Contact

For any privacy questions or deletion requests, email us at eversnap924@gmail.com.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ViewFolk evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
